This sculpture evolved from a dream I had about a young vital woman dying before she had a chance to experience very much of this life.(But she went forth with gusto, see poem below!)

First Landing

The young woman, in her mortal mind,
thought she was passing over unexpectedly,
but the angels say she handled her transition
with the utmost grace
and decorum.

When blessed with her new wings she
joyously took flight!
However, the angels
went on to say,
it was that first landing
when her composure began to slip.
